Barry Lategan

This dapper chap is legendary photographer Barry Lategan - the one who shot that iconic picture of Twiggy in the 60s. He's been popping up a lot recently at different private views I've been to. The first time I met him was at an opening for John Claridge in 2008. I last saw him the other day at Molly Parkin's 80th. Here he is taking a picture of me, taking a picture of him.

Paul Fryer exhibition just opened in Dallas

British artist Paul Fryer has just opened an exhibition at Kristy Stubbs Gallery in Dallas. I met up with Paul last November to see his studio close to the Thames Barrier. It was brilliant to be walked around his studio and see all the new works he's been making, many of which can be seen in the show in Dallas. Paul also very kindly let me use his Hasselblad for my shots. Amazing camera. I want one!

Year new... Dreams come true...

Thank you to everyone who read my blog in 2011. Big apologies for not posting for such a long time. Life as a gallerina was extremely busy the last few months of the year with not an awful lot of time for other things. I did however make my own website that I am very happy to share with you here. It's still a work in progress - I can't figure out how to add text to explain who the people are in the photos for instance. And I need to add more pages and pictures...

Have any of you made your own website? It's very fiddly, even with a template. Any suggestions very welcome.

Below are some of the shots I've added to

A belated happy new year - peace, happiness and love for 2012.

This is the photographer Neil Libbert. He has taken pictures in some very difficult situations over the years. You can see some of his photographs here.

Theodore Bouloukos - actor, writer and performance artist.

This is a man I met in Paris having coffee in Passy. I don't know his name but he had a good face.

Hot hot hot!! Nina Fowler - new solo show at Lazarides - Opening 15th September

Nina Fowler
It’s Just My Funny Way of Dancing: Parts I – XIII

A solo exhibition of new work by British artist Nina Fowler, created especially for Lazarides ‘Dungeon’ space, downstairs at their Greek Street Gallery.

Following on from her fantastic show in Paris earlier this year, Fowler has created 13 large-scale drawings that wrap around the space on one continuous sheet of paper, creating an all-encompassing, eternal flow of movement that surrounds the viewer like an uninterrupted over-sized film reel.

The drawings originate from the frozen frames of a scene in the Marlene Dietrich movie, Destry Rides Again (1939). In the scene, Marlene is drawn into a surprisingly brutal cat-fight with co-star Una Merkel. Dietrich’s usually marble-like composure slips, her infamous poise and icy glamour replaced by a raucous cacophony of movement as she tosses herself with total abandon about the room, the pair of women becoming a tumbling mess of ripped skirt, pulled hair and laddered stocking.

Fowler is attracted to this rare glimpse into another side of the iconic Marlene, her glamorous, glittering evening dress and stockinged legs sometimes all that distinguish her from her plainer adversary. The artist’s technique echoes Marlene’s transformation, embracing a fluid manner of drawing, almost painterly in style, to achieve the heightened sense of drama and passion in their acrimonious embraces. Her drawings confound our eye, as they scream movement while allowing us to inspect their frozen detail. (Jess Adams)

The show will be on from 15th September til 1st October. Click here for the rest of the press release.
